We are currently seeking a reliable, safety-driven, and experienced Crusher Operator to support daily crushing operations within our mining contracting team. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production of aggregate and fine gold products.

The Crusher Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the crushing spread, conducting routine equipment inspections, identifying operational or safety hazards, and maintaining steady material flow throughout the shift. This position requires strong situational awareness, mechanical aptitude, and a proactive commitment to safety in a fast-paced mining environment.

Working closely with the Operations Supervisor and the production crew, the Crusher Operator plays a key role in meeting production targets while upholding the highest standards of safety and equipment care.

Main responsibilities

Crushing Equipment Operation

  • Operate crushers, screens, conveyors, and related support equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform safe startup, shutdown, and lockout/tagout procedures as required
  • Monitor material feed, flow rates, and equipment performance throughout the shift
  • Adjust operating settings as directed to meet product specifications and production targets

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with all site safety policies, SOPs, and Mine Act regulations
  • Complete pre-shift inspections, FLRAs, and logbook entries accurately
  • Identify hazards and report them immediately to the Supervisor or Lead Hand
  • Participate actively in toolbox meetings, safety discussions, and incident reporting
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area around the crushing spread

Inspection & Basic Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections of crushers, belts, screens, chutes, walkways, and guarding
  • Identify abnormal noises, vibrations, leaks, or mechanical issues
  • Assist maintenance personnel during planned shutdowns and repairs
  • Perform basic lubrication, belt tension checks, and parameter monitoring when trained

Production Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor throughput, gradation, and final product quality
  • Communicate material inconsistencies or operational concerns promptly
  • Support accurate production data collection and reporting as required

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with Loader Operators, Groundmen, and other crew members
  • Provide assistance with training and mentoring new operators when required
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with Supervisors regarding production status and issues

Qualifications and skills sought

 

  • Previous experience operating crushers or working in aggregate production
  • Familiarity with crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated heavy equipment
  • Experience in mining, construction, or industrial environments (an asset)
  • Surface Miner Common Core certification (an asset)
  • Valid driver’s license

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Strong mechanical awareness with the ability to recognize equipment issues early
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment, elevated platforms, and moving machinery
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and performing labor-intensive tasks
