Specializing in mining crushing operations and active across Quebec and Ontario, Agregat continues to experience significant growth, particularly in Ontario.
We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to structure, support, and advance our health and safety practices within a growing, multi-site, field-driven environment.
Reporting to general management, you will be responsible for health and safety strategy, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with operations, site teams, supervisors, and the Human Resources Director.
Your mission: make health and safety a daily, practical, and credible reflex in the field.
The position will ideally be based in Ontario, or in a location that allows for regular presence at operations in both Ontario and Quebec. Travel to various sites will be required.
Main responsibilities
- Develop, update, and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations in Quebec and Ontario, particularly within Ontario’s mining sector.
- Support managers and supervisors in applying effective prevention and safety practices.
- Conduct or coordinate inspections, audits, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Manage the follow-up of incidents, near misses, workplace accidents, investigations, and corrective measures.
- Oversee training records, certifications, work permits, site access requirements, and client compliance requirements.
- Support the health and safety onboarding of new employees in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Maintain a regular presence at operational sites and with field teams.
- Monitor health and safety performance indicators and recommend improvements.
- Represent Agregat with clients, partners, committees, and events related to health and safety.
Qualifications and skills sought
- Significant experience in health and safety within mining, industrial, heavy construction, crushing, quarrying, or multi-site environments.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario health and safety requirements, ideally within the mining sector.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical and effective workplace practices.
- Credibility with field employees, supervisors, and senior leadership.
- Experience in auditing, incident investigations, risk management, training, and continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership skills with a rigorous, people-oriented, and solution-focused approach.
- Proficiency with health and safety tracking systems, reporting tools, records management, and compliance platforms.
- French and English bilingualism is considered a strong asset.
