We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and safety‑focused Operations Supervisor to oversee daily crushing operations and lead a team of operators and ground crew in a fast‑paced mining contracting environment.

The Operations Supervisor is a frontline leader responsible for executing daily production plans, maintaining safe work practices, coordinating crew activities, and ensuring the crushing spread operates efficiently and reliably. This role requires a hands‑on supervisor who leads by example, communicates clearly, and responds quickly to operational or safety challenges.

Your leadership will have a direct impact on production performance, safety outcomes, and overall crew engagement and morale.

Main responsibilities

Daily Operational Leadership

  • Lead operators and labourers through all phases of crushing operations
  • Conduct pre‑shift toolbox meetings and field‑level risk assessments (FLRAs)
  • Assign daily work tasks and actively monitor execution throughout the shift
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Operations Superintendent regarding production status, issues, and progress

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with company policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
  • Verify completion of pre‑shift inspections and proper equipment startup procedures
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions promptly
  • Complete incident, near‑miss, and safety reports accurately and on time
  • Exercise stop‑work authority whenever unsafe conditions are present

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor feed consistency, throughput, and material flow across the crushing spread
  • Inspect crushers, screens, belts, stockpiles, and work areas for safe and efficient operation
  • Support troubleshooting and communicate equipment issues to Maintenance
  • Ensure production logs, shift reports, and logbooks are accurate and complete

Team Development & Performance

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to operators and ground crew
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct onsite

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with Maintenance Planner and Maintenance Supervisor regarding downtime and repairs
  • Communicate quality or material concerns in real time to QC Technicians
  • Collaborate with Inventory, HSE, and HR teams as operational needs arise

Qualifications and skills sought

 

  • 3–5 years of experience in crushing operations, aggregate production, or mining environments
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of crushing circuits, heavy equipment, and plant operations
  • Surface Miner Common Core certificate (an asset)
  • Valid driver’s license

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews in demanding, fast‑paced environments
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Confidence in decision‑making related to safety, production, and crew management
  • Proficiency with production logs, reporting tools, and basic computer systems
